Colonics, colonic irrigation, colonic hydrotherapy, colon irrigation or colonic are terms of the same meaning.
Simply put, it refers to the infusion of water by a colon therapist into the rectum in order to flush out the colon. The water used in this procedure is not just any water.
It has to be sterilized and filtered with its temperature regulated. It should be done by a professional hydrotherapist to make sure that everything goes well.
Typically, colonics is done in such a way that the therapist will insert a speculum into the patient’s anus. This speculum is connected to a hose, which is in turn connected to the unit that does the colon hydrotherapy.
Warm water will then be released to the colon, which causes the colon muscles to contract (otherwise called peristalsis). This will then push the feces out of the body, through the hose, and disposed in a waste system.
Though the procedure sounds filthy and smelly, it is actually not. Nobody smells a thing and the disposed feces will go into a closed waste system. The therapist will only be able to observe the feces through the transparent hose. This process may take about 45 minutes to finish.
People get these colonics since they are becoming aware of the dangers of having toxins and other waste materials accumulating in their colons. This waste results in many diseases including the number one cancer killer, colon cancer.
They get their colon cleansed to remove these putrefied and accumulated wastes in the colon. It will also help prevent or stop constipation. Most importantly, it will be able to improve their overall well being and health.
Those who strongly believe in colon hydrotherapy are convinced that if people fail to have their colon cleansed and food and other waste matters build up in the intestines, results will be constipations, prevention of the system to absorb nutrients and water, growth of harmful yeast and bacteria. Toxins may be produced and absorbed by the system.
