Numbat Day 2021

Tip: Misook discount codes: Get $100 Off Misook Promo Codes, Coupons November 2021

The numbat (Myrmecobius fasciatus) is a small marsupial that was once found across most of southern Australia. It is now restricted to a few isolated pockets in southwest Western Australia as well as two small re-introduced populations in New South Wales and South Australia. With an estimated wild population of less than 1000, the species faces the threat of extinction.

Numbat Day is a day to celebrate Western Australia’s unique mammal emblem and to encourage action to conserve the species. You can help numbats by encouraging responsible pet ownership, spreading the word about the marsupial’s plight and never removing hollow logs from the bush.

The Numbat is under threat from habitat loss and introduced predators such as foxes and feral cats. With an estimated population of fewer than 1000 individuals, we need your help to protect the future of this unique marsupial.

Project Numbat Inc.: is a volunteer-run not-for-profit organization that promotes community awareness and involvement in the conservation of Western Australia’s unique mammal emblem.

Project Numbat Inc. values its partnerships with the Numbat Recovery Team, Perth Zoo, Department of Parks and Wildlife and Australian Wildlife Conservancy.

Saxophone Day 2021

Tip: CB2 promo codes: CB2 Up to 30% Off Entertaining Items

Ahhh, the Saxophone. That sultry wail on a mist-ridden street, the seductive tones of Kenny G, and the rich warm sound of a jazzy riff. These sounds truly capture the heart and imagination of their listeners, and have since the instrument first came on the scene. From professional musicians like the jazz legend Johnny Hodges, to Bill Clinton, the former president of the United States, the Saxophone knows no boundaries of class or race. If you’ve never really taken the time to enjoy the beautiful music of this instrument, Saxophone Day is your time to indulge.

History of Saxophone Day

The Saxophone is a woodwind instrument that was developed by a second generation Belgian instrument designer by the name of Adolphe Sax in 1846. His goal was to create the most powerful and adaptable brass woodwind instrument to fill the perceived gap between their respective sections. While it was initially developed to be used in classical music, the diversity of the saxophone has found its way into just about every type of music you can imagine.

From its creation, there have been multiple derivations of the saxophone, from the Alto (being the most common) all the way up the scale to the Sopranissimo (a very high pitched instrument) all the way down to the Subcontrabass (the deepest throated of the saxophones). Though developed to be the balancing point between brass and woodwind instruments, the saxophone is classified, officially, as a woodwind.

How to Celebrate Saxophone Day

For most people the best way to celebrate saxophone day is merely to indulge in the broad range of music that the saxophone has contributed to. Rock out to the great classic rock sounds of Huey Lewis and the News’s – I want a new drug, or groove the night away with some classic Kenny G. If you want to go really old-school, dig deep into the history of music and listen to L’Arlesienne Suite No. 1 & Suite No. 2 by Bizet, a fantastic example of the solo power of the sax in classical works.

For those more adventurous and musically inclined, take this opportunity to pick up this most beautiful of the woodwinds, and start practicing. Whether you aspire to the richness of classical music, or the sultry seductive tones of modern Jazz, the Saxophone is definitely the instrument to take you there. Saxophone Day is the day you can embrace your creative artist side, and dive into the world of musical art.

FAQs National Nachos Day 2021

National Nachos Day FAQs

When did nachos become popular?

While a Mexican hotel manager created the dish in 1943, a U.S. sportscaster gets credit for popularizing nachos in 1976 during a Monday Night Football game.

Are nachos unhealthy?

Deep fried foods topped with melted cheese generally don’t rate high with cardiologists. Try going heavy on colorful vegetables and using whole-grain flour. Or just limit yourself to Super Bowl nachos once a year.

Who invented nachos?

Credit goes to Ignacio “Nacho” Anaya, who first created them for the wives of U.S. servicemen at a Mexican hotel restaurant in 1943.

What is National Nachos Day?

November 6 is National Nachos Day! On this day we celebrate everyone’s favorite snack no matter how you make it. Chicken or beef? Beans or salsa? Cheddar or that yellow stuff they top chips with at football games? There’s no one specific way to make it as long as it has two main ingredients: Chips and as much cheese as you can pile on!

History

Any discussion about the history of nachos has to begin in the Mexican border town of Piedras Negras — just west of the Rio Grande — across which sits Eagle Pass, Texas. One day in 1943 the wives of U.S. soldiers stationed at Ft. Duncan dropped in on a Piedras Negras hotspot called the Victory Club.

Unfortunately the restaurant had closed for the day.

Still, a manager named Ignacio “Nacho” Anaya decided to throw a dish together based on whatever ingredients he still had left. Among them? Cheese and tortillas. Anaya sliced the fried tortillas into triangles, added some shredded cheddar and jalapeño peppers — and started a new tradition which bears his name to this day. (Thanks Nacho! Where would out Super Bowl parties be without you?)

Speaking of which, an alternative take on nachos — using the now familiar cheese sauce — appeared at a Texas Rangers baseball game at Arlington Stadium in 1976. Two years later the iconic ABC sportscaster Howard Cosell mentioned the term “nachos” during a Monday Night Football game — helping to turn this rather simple dish into an American tradition.

Note: Piedras Negras continues to celebrate “The International Nacho Festival” each October — complete with live music, art, cultural activities, and a “giant nacho” contest.
